Need - Finding Anna #2 - review

Book 2 of the Finding Anna series was a great followup to Slave. Picking up exactly where the first book left off, Brianna realizes that she is no longer a slave, however, she isn't quite sure what she is anymore. While Stephan would love for her to become his submissive, he must help Brianna make that transition and gain her trust along the way. Of course adjusting to a new lifestyle is difficult for Brianna especially when her past comes back to haunt her.

I love how the relationship is progressing with Stephan and Brianna. I could never imagine being in Brianna's shoes and give her credit for being brave and coming out of her broken shell. The whole concept of this book is entirely disturbing but I found myself completely devouring this series. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Slave - Finding Anna - review

Slave is book #1 in the Finding Anna series by Sherri Hayes. I've had this on my list to read for a while now and finally got to finish it. While I wasn't quite sure how I was going to feel about this  book, I really enjoyed it. Slave is an eye opening, highly emotional and disturbing story about sexual slavery.

Stephan lives a dominant lifestyle and when a friend asks him for a favor, he buys and rescues Brianna from a very bad situation. Stephan is extremely patient with her while trying to gain her trust. Both Stephan and Brianna are very strong characters and I liked that the book was told from each person's point of view. I love that Stephan is gentle, protective and loving towards Brianna. He is a perfect hero for the broken girl who he has now given a second chance to. I'm looking forward to seeing how their relationship progresses.
Onto book #2!

The Mighty Storm - review

This book is absolutely mighty amazing!!!

Trudy Bennett hasn't seen her best friend and boy she once loved in twelve years. He also happens to be Jake Wethers, deliciously sexy, tattooed, rock star of the Mighty Storm! Tru is sent to interview Jake for the magazine that she writes for and old sparks immediately start flying. The only problem is that Tru has a boyfriend, Will, of 2 years and Jake is (wild, untameable, man-whore, rock god) well, Jake! Even so, he was her first love and neither of them want to let the other go again. Jake is persuasive and gets what he wants when he wants it! Tru is beautiful, smart and level-headed when it comes to everything but Jake!

The Mighty Storm had the perfect combination of love, romance (who'd have thought Jake had it in him?!), plenty of angst, no really, PLENTY OF ANGST and great characters.  I loved everything about this book, including the ending! This book made me smile, my heart hurt, my eyes tear up and my stomach flutter! It's just what I love when reading!

If I Were You - Inside Out Trilogy (volume 1) - review

Book #1 of the Inside Out Trilogy

What a great start! Being called "Fifty Shades meets Basic Instinct" this book did not disappoint! Although it is NOTHING like Fifty!

Sara McMillin, high school English teacher on summer vacation begins reading the dark, erotic journals that were found in a storage unit that was bought by her best friend. They belong to a woman named Rebecca who works at an art gallery. Out of curiosity and to return the journals, Sara attends a showing at the gallery and she meets Mark, the attractive, dominant, intriguing owner who offers her a job filling in for Rebecca until she returns.  Sara also meets the ruggedly sexy, tattooed, and talented artist, Chris Merit which Sara has an instant connection to. (The sex is pretty hot too!) As their relationship progresses they discover that they share similar dark pasts and may have more in common than they think.

I'm looking forward to learning more about the mysterious Chris Merit and seeing how this story unfolds. Unfortunately, we are left with one big cliffhanger and a long wait for the next book, ugh!

Sea Breeze Trilogy - review

Breathe - Book #1

I totally have a toothache from reading this story!  It's super sweet and extremely corny but in a good way.

Sadie White is a  young, responsible girl who was forced to grow up quickly because of her immature and pregnant mother. Her new summer job is to fill in for her mom as the "help" for Jax Stone, teen rock star and heart-throb! They fall in love almost instantly and are both completely smitten. She doesn't fit in to his world but they are determined to make their love work especially since she is his....air!

I wish the story was a little stronger and that Jax was a little more man! He was way too soft especially for a rock star! Sadie is beautiful and naive which is a perfect combo for Jax. All in all it was a cute story about young love. May have just been a little too young for me.

Because of Low - Book #2

Okay, I liked this book way better than the first! It wasn't as cheesy and I honestly enjoyed the characters more.

Marcus Hardy, as we met in Breathe, is the genuine good guy. He's sweet and sexy in his own way and he's back in Sea Breeze! He meets Willow, "Low", through his new roommate, Cage York (I hope we get his book next!). Problem is that Cage believes that he is going to marry Low once he gets his playboy mentality out of the way. Both Marcus and Low are dealing with their own family issues and about halfway through this book I thought, "this can't end well".  Luckily the relationship between Marcus and Low is strong enough to survive.

While it Lasts - Book #3

Hands down the best of the series!!! Cage York is YUMMY!!!  Get ready to fall in love with him!

Cage has found himself working on a farm for the summer as punishment for drunk driving and to avoid losing his baseball scholarship.  The new resident bad boy meets Eva, the farmers' daughter who wants absolutely nothing to do with him.  Since Eva was a kid, she has been in a relationship with Josh, her fiance who died at war just a little over a year ago. She is still mourning the loss of him but Cage may just be the guy to help her move on.

What I really like about this series is that the writing style advances the same way the characters mature.

Gabriel's Rapture - review

Gabriel Emerson is back in this brilliant follow up to Gabriel's Inferno!

This book picks up right were the first leaves off. Julia and Gabriel's relationship has progressed and they travel to Italy for a lecture that Gabriel is delivering on Dante.  While there, Gabriel introduces the Julia to the culture and all the beauty that Italy has to offer. It's just screaming romance!!! Swoon!  Gabriel has mastered the art of seduction and you can feel it when you read this book.  There is so much passion and love that just pours out on each page. The museum scene happens to be one of my all time favorites! Of course there is reality that the pair faces once they return from Italy.  Full of drama and angst, Gabriel and Julia each take their own personal journey which leads them right back to where they belong, together!

This is hands down one of the sexiest, seductive, hottest, and profound romances ever! It doesn't get much better than this!

Gabriel's Inferno - review

Stunning, sophisticated and sexy!!!

Gabriel Emerson, well respected Dante specialist, also has a dark, tortured past and believes that he is beyond redemption. Julia Mitchel, his younger sister's best friend enrolls in his class and the two of them take a romantic, forbidden journey through their past and into their present which is compared to the relationship of Dante and Beatrice.

Everything about this book is wonderful. Gabriel's Inferno had it all! Romance, seduction, love, art, history, faith, and redemption.

I must say that this book is perfection for the hopeless romantic like myself. I have no problem calling it one of my absolute favorites!

My Heart for Yours - review

What a great book! It totally reminded me of the Notebook, my all time favorite movie, just a little bit sadder.

Tobin has just lost his older brother to a horrific death and now the unexpected arrival of Delia, his first love and former girlfriend, at the funeral is enough to break him completely.  The story of Tobin and Delia is told from alternating point of views, past and present, we get a glimpse of their relationship from the beautiful beginning to the heartbreaking end that was just about a year ago. Now that Delia is back, her and Tobin have a chance to repair their relationship as long as miscommunication doesn't ruin it for them.

This emotional story is about young love, loss and relationships. It was beautifully written and the addition of the poetry brought it together perfectly.

Point of Retreat - review

A butterflying awesome followup to Slammed!!!

"There are moments in every relationship that define when two people start to fall in love.
A first glance
A first smile
A first kiss
A first fall..."
-Will in Point of Retreat

I seriously could not love this series any more than I already do. Point of Retreat is narrated by Will and deals with more of their relationship and heartache. The obstacles that they endure will either tear them apart or make them stronger.

Another emotional roller coaster of a book that had me laughing and bawling my eyes out. Will & Layken's relationship is truly one in a million.

Crash - review

“The name’s Jude Ryder, since I know you’re all but salivating like a rabid dog to know, and I don’t do girlfriends, relationships, flowers or regular phone calls. If that works for you, I think we could work out something special.”
Nicole Williams, Crash

Aaahhhh Jude Ryder!!! Enough said!

What a great book and right up my alley. Lucy Larsen  has her sights set on Julliard and now on Jude Ryder, the ladies man, who lives in a boys home and has been in more trouble than he cares to admit.  Jude knows that he is no good for Lucy but she doesn't want to be away from him. Both of them have had tragic pasts and have broken families and without giving anything away the end is just heart-wrenching and shocking. I can't wait for more of Jude and Lucy!

Clash - Crash #2 COVER REVEAL!!!

From Nicole Williams' blog:  No release date as of yet......

The only thing easy about Jude’s and Lucy’s relationship is their love for one another. Everything else is hard.

Especially when it comes to reining in Jude’s trigger touch temper and Lucy’s increasing jealousy towards Jude’s Spirit Sister on the cheer squad who’s attached herself to him in just about every way a girl could. Feeling the stress of trying to hang on to the quintessential bad boy and become the foremost dancer in her class, Lucy knows something’s going to break. She wants both. She needs both. But if she doesn’t make a choice, she risks losing everything.

For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love might be the thing that just isn’t enough.

Seduction and Snacks - review

Seduction and Snacks, sex and candy, whatever you want to call it is fine as long as you read this book now!!

Claire, who has never wanted kids, loses her virginity to a one-night stand at a frat party. Now she is a single mom of an outrageous little boy, completely inexperienced when it comes to sex and selling sex toys with her best friend while attempting to open her own bakery. Carter, the nameless baby daddy with super sperm, only knows Claire from her chocolate scent and when he runs into her again she is determined to make him remember her this time.

This book is laugh out loud, tears in your eyes funny! The characters and comments are absolutely hilarious and the sex is super hot! You are sure to have a craving for chocolate come the end of this book! What's not to love?!

Pushing the Limits - review

Pushing the Limits was a great story of two teenagers who have both lost so much and have managed to fall in love in the process of growing up and finding themselves.

Echo Emerson used to have it all until her entire life changed one night. The problem is that she doesn't remember that night yet she is left with the physical and emotional scars as a constant reminder.  Bad boy Noah Hutchins lost his parents two years ago, was separated from his younger brothers and has been in foster care ever since.  Echo and Noah form a beautiful bond while attempting to put the pieces of their broken lives back together.

I really liked this story and found it was beautifully written, emotionally disturbing, heart-wrenching, edgy and very similar to a lot of books that I have previously read. Think Perfect Chemistry meets Barely Breathing, meets Almost, meets Beautiful Disaster!

Bared to You - review

Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey will love this book!

Enter the smoking hot, sexy as hell, filthy rich, dominant, obsessive, emotionally abused Gideon Cross! From the moment he lays his piercing, crystal blue eyes on Eva Tramell there is an undeniable chemistry that completely ignites on the pages of this book. Holy hotness!!! Get ready for sex, sex and even hotter sex! Eva is beautiful, smart and just as dysfunctional as Gideon. The two of them have an intense, possessive and obsessive relationship.

I can't wait for the next book in the Crossfire series!  I need more of Gideon and Eva like now!

Fall From Grace - review

This book was excellent and it was free for me when I got it. I believe that is still pretty cheap and worth the dollar or two that it costs.

Grace has a secret that only her best friend and her brother know. Now that her brother has died she is back in New York and living with her bff when she meets the one and only Shane Maxton! He is so much like Kellen Kyle, (just a few years older), hot, sexy, bad boy, rockstar that it's hard not to fall in love with him! There is so much sexual tension between him and Grace since she absolutely refuses to be another notch on his belt.

I really couldn't put this book down and pretty much didn't. It ends with a paranormal twist and huge cliffhanger. Luckily there is a book 2 in the works and my only hope is that it doesn't completely change it's tone but I sort of think it will. Guess we'll find out!

Effortless - review

The sequel to Thoughtless and just as good, if not better!  Kellen Kyle is even more swoon worthy if that's even possible!

With the D-bags on tour and Kiera still in school she is forced to put her trust in Kellen even with all the groupies throwing themselves at him. All I have to say is LOVE NOTES, aaahhhhh!

SC Stephens does a fantastic job of making you feel every emotion in these books. While Kiera wasn't as annoying in this book, she still had me wanting to break my kindle a few times!  I surprisingly formed a soft spot for Griffen and found him completely entertaining!

I can't wait to re-read this series before Reckless, the 3rd book comes out! The title already has my stomach in knots!

Thoughtless - review

Kellen Kyle, Kellen Kyle, Kellen Kyle!!! *sigh*

Kiera and her boyfriend, Denny drive to Seattle to start their new lives together. When Denny's job has him go to Arizona for a few months, Kiera turns to Denny's best friend and local rock star, Kellen Kyle. He is amazing and that's putting it mildly! Kellen is gorgeous, intense and incredibly sexy!

I absolutely had a love/hate relationship with this book as I was reading it. Kiera was completely annoying to me and at times had me wanting to throw my kindle across the room! If it wasn't for Kellen Kyle and all of his rockstar sexiness then I probably would have! Kiera was very immature,a total tease and I felt so bad for Denny. This angst filled love story will have your heartstrings tugged at from the very beginning!

Slammed - review

"I got schooled this year by a boy"

Let me just say that I absolutely adored this book! 18 year old Layken moves into town with her mom and younger brother and immediately meets Will Cooper, the 21 year old neighbor who is raising his younger brother. The two hit it off from the beginning and the younger brothers become the best of friends. Not everything is how it seems and Will and Layken's relationship comes to a sudden halt yet their feelings do not.

This book has so many emotional ups and downs and is full of poetry, romance, love, heartbreak, friendship, family and hope!

If you have not put this on your to-read list, do it now or just go ahead and read it. Make sure to get Point of Retreat (the sequel) as well because you are going to want that one as soon as you finish this amazing book!

Dex Files and Weekend Reading

So the Dex Files - Experiment in Terror #5.7 is out today and I've already started reading it. If you haven't read the Experiment in Terror Series than I suggest you do, in order! The Dex Files is a compilation of all the books told from his point of view.  The series is about Dex Foray, a 30ish year old bad boy and Perry Palomino a 20 something girl who sees ghosts. They become partners on the web show Experiment in Terror (think Ghost Hunters) and they have some close encounters. It's an excellent series and easy reads. 4.5 stars in my book!

I also got to read Wishing for Someday Soon which was a little depressing but not all that bad.

Fall From Grace was so good that I had a hard time putting it down (so I practically didn't) and of course it helped that Shane Maxton reminded me a lot of Kellen Kyle (Thoughtless/Effortless)!  You can't go wrong with hot rockstars and fallen angels!

And then I read My Heart for Yours which was really good and somewhat reminded me of the Notebook which is my all time favorite movie!

All in all I'd say it was a productive reading weekend and reviews will be coming shortly!

Sempre - review

This is a story about sacrifice... death... love... freedom. This is a story about forever.

This is an amazing story that had me reeling long after I finished it (and also kicked of a week long "dark reads" phase even though it's not that dark). It is not your typical happy-go-lucky love story either!

Mafia, slavery, romance, guns, love and hope tie together perfectly to make Sempre amazing!

Haven Antonelli, a second generation sex slave, grew up terrified and abused. Carmine DeMarco is the son of a wealthy mobster who lost his mother years ago. When their lives intersect it is full of friendship, honesty, drama, love, heartbreak and sacrifice all in the quest for freedom!

I highly recommend this book and have no problem giving it 5 stars!

Beautiful Disaster - review

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE this story!!!

Abby Abernathy, the good girl gets challenged by the bad boy, walking one night stand known as Travis Maddox (start swooning girls)! He is an underground street fighter, covered in tats and rides a motorcycle! He challenges Abby to a bet that if he loses he must remain abstinent for a month and if she loses she must live with him for the same amount of time. This is a recipe for a beautiful disaster if I've ever seen one! As the month progresses so does their crazy, messed up, heart-breaking, loving relationship. Can't wait to read it again through Travis' eyes in Walking Disaster!

Almost - review

Jess Jordan was almost raped her freshman year and 3 years later she is still suffering from rape related PTSD.  Since that night Jess has had nightmares that prevent her from sleeping at night so she naps in her car during the day.  In an attempt to prove to her parents that she is okay and everything is normal, Jess hires Gray Porter,  a hockey jock, to be her summer boyfriend after they both interview for the same internship. Jess doesn't know that Gray has his own reasons for going along with her plan and she certainly doesn't expect to fall in love with him along the way.  I think I fell in love with Gray Porter along the way too! He is funny, hot, sweet, unselfish, and everything you could want in a book boyfriend! It's heartbreaking to see what Jess goes through on a daily basis but with the help of Gray she begins to feel almost not crazy. When she finally remembers the details of the night of the almost rape, her life will never be the same.

I really enjoyed this book and everything that came along with it. 4 stars!
